Week Four
Throughout the duration of this course so far, I have encountered a number of challenges while gardening. A number of those challenges I have overcome already and there are some that I am still in the process of overcoming. One challenge that I had was figuring out where to put my garden. The soil where I live is awful for gardening and the excessive amount of rain outside would almost certainly drown out my plants. The solution I came up with was to use gardening pots and to keep the plants underneath cover but still outside in a south-facing area. This ensures that my plants will not receive too much water from the rain but that it is also outdoors and is getting the sunlight it needs to convert sunlight into energy. Another challenge is figuring out exactly when and how much water to give my seeds in the germination phase. As you can see from the picture above, the tomato seeds have germinated and are doing well and one of my lettuce seeds has germinated. The other seeds don't appear to have germinated yet so I'm hoping that I'm giving them the proper amount of water and sunlight. I'm trying to rotate the seeds so that they are all getting exactly the same amount of sunlight. Hopefully, I will see some sprouts from some of my other seeds soon.
