This week, I planted the bell pepper, tomato, lettuce, and cucumber seeds in the expanded pellets. The pellets took around twenty minutes to fully expand and after this I was able to plant two seeds per pellet and label them with the plant labels. I have placed the pellets by a South-facing windowsill in order to provide the most sunlight. The seeds are now in optimal conditions for germination so hopefully I will be seeing some seedlings soon. From watching the videos this week I learned a lot about sustaining plants that already exist in a garden and I plan on using the cutting method to expand on my garden once it is fully grown. To answer this weeks suggested blog question, I am very excited to be growing my own food. I think that in today's society where the vast majority of people buy all of their food from the grocery store, it is easy to forget that all of the fruits and vegetables that are in the store had to be provided the optimal conditions to grow, as they are living things. It's amazing that the same fruits and vegetables that you can buy at the store you can grow for yourself right in your home or in your backyard. It is my hope that in the future I'll be able to sustain a healthy garden of fruits and vegetables so that I won't have to rely on a grocery store for these items.
