Week Eight
I have actually told a lot of my friends and family about my garden and I frequently update them on the progress of my plants. It's incredible watching these plants grow over time and knowing that they started as just a single seed. Since I see my plants all the time, I can still see their growth, but it is less obvious to me because it is subtle. For others however, I send them pictures every few days or so using Snapchat and people always comment on how fast my plants are growing or how big they are getting. As time goes on I'm getting more and more excited about eventually being able to see the fruits begin to grow and about finally being able to harvest them and share with my friends and family. This week, I fertilized my garden with the organic fertilizer provided in the gardening kit. I made an attempt to place the fertilizer as close as possible to the roots of my plants to ensure an increased growth rate. Keeping the four R's in mind, I fertilized on a day that it was overcast so that the temperature of the soil wasn't too hot, and I used a measuring spoon to ensure that I gave my plants exactly half a teaspoon of fertilizer. I am excited to see how the fertilization process helps my plants grow in the weeks that follow.
